Name Different on Aadhaar and Ration Card? Start Here
When a name differs between Aadhaar and an FSC record, first identify which entry is wrong. Correcting a government record is different from changing the way you type a name into a search form. Do not alter correct documents just to match a spelling mistake elsewhere.
Compare the actual records
Place the Aadhaar document, ration card details, and application acknowledgement side by side. Note whether the difference is in spelling, initials, word order, or the wrong person’s entry. Compare any other details needed to identify the person, without posting those details publicly.
Two records may need two separate processes
UIDAI provides the process for updating Aadhaar details. A ration-card correction must be checked with the authorized Telangana service or Civil Supplies office. Updating Aadhaar alone should not be assumed to change the ration-card record automatically.
Step-by-step: what to do
- Write the correct spelling as shown on the supporting identity document you intend to use. Note exactly which record differs.
- If Aadhaar is the incorrect record, consult UIDAI’s current update guidance. Confirm the accepted documents and available update method before visiting or submitting.
- If the FSC entry is incorrect, ask an authorized MeeSeva centre or Civil Supplies office which correction service applies and which documents it accepts.
- Ask whether the issue concerns one family member or the head of household. Make the requested correction specific rather than asking to replace the whole record unnecessarily.
- Keep the acknowledgement for each submitted update. Record which authority issued each reference so that you do not confuse Aadhaar tracking with FSC tracking.
- After the relevant authority confirms completion, check the updated record separately. If the second record still differs, follow up with the office responsible for that record.
A mistake to avoid
Do not promise yourself that the correction will appear everywhere on a particular day. Avoid entering a different person’s Aadhaar to make a search succeed. Share documents with authorized staff through the required process, not with unknown callers.
Example
Aadhaar spells a family member’s name correctly, while the FSC record has one missing letter. Ask about correcting the FSC entry and the supporting evidence required. There is no reason to change the correct Aadhaar spelling merely to imitate the error.
Keep Separate Correction Receipts
The published FSC correction form includes member-detail modifications. Check whether the mistake is in the FSC record or Aadhaar first, then use the authority responsible for that record. Keep each correction acknowledgement; an update to one database does not prove the other changed.

Frequently asked questions
Will an Aadhaar update automatically fix FSC details?
Do not assume it will. Check the ration-card record and ask its responsible office about any separate correction.
Can I use an abbreviation instead?
Use the details requested by the official service and supported by your documents. Ask the office how it handles initials or naming differences.
Can this website submit the correction?
No. We explain the process but do not collect documents or submit government updates.
